On my return flight to Boston from NYC yesterday I had a chance to read this month’s Outside Traveler. This issue was highlighting 74 "epic trips & summer getaways". Below are some that caught my attention and that I will add to my travel wish list.
RESERVA AMAZÓNICA claims to provides the best tourism infrastructure available in the entire region where it is located in Peru. The one thing that seems to be clear from their site is that the property is in a prime location for exploring the rainforest (The resort has Peru’s longest canopy walkway-1,150 feet across and 119 feet above the forest floor). The lodge boasts 30 private cabanas and 3 suites built with local materials in native style. Service areas are located in a two-story wooden pavilion with a cathedral ceiling housing the dining room, bar, the main lounge and a mezzanine overlooking the rainforest, where visitors can relax while contemplating the unique scenery.
MEADOWOOD is nestled into a beautiful, two hundred-fifty acre valley in St. Helena CA. The property features championship croquet lawns, seven tennis courts, a nine-hole walking golf course, hiking trails, swimming, a full-service health spa, a wine educator, an annual cultural affairs calendar, eighty-five guest rooms and wine country cuisine.
POETS COVE RESORT & SPA Hidden away in a secluded bay on Pender Island, British Columbia, the resort is a mix of pristine wilderness and elegant sophistication, with 15 cottages, nine villas, and a lodge with 22 rooms looking west toward ocean sunsets.
TWIN FARMS ,VT Classic New England meets modern opulence amid 300 acres of rolling meadows and groves of sugar maples, white pine, and birch in Barnard, Vermont. Accommodations are available in either one of four guest rooms in the clapboard farmhouse, ten cottages, the lodge, or the main house.
