SpecOps Woodsball

Spec_ops_logo Myself, along with 5 other of my close friends (4 guys and 1 girl), have recently gotten into playing Woodsball.  Woodsball is a genre of paintball that is played in any natural setting, such as the woods, open fields, swamps, mountains, canyons, etc.

Many thanks goes to SpecialOps for creating a full solution for new players of the game.  First, their game play theory   puts its entire emphasis on team play.  Its online tactics guide is great for getting up to speed on basic maneuvers.  With this focus, they have done all the hard work defining each position of a team, their role in combat, and their needed equipment.  Second, their partnership with paintball equipment maker Tippmann, has provided them a leading partner to help supply their online store with top of the line gear.  Finally, they have developed a great online community called SpecOps//brigade.  This site allows you to develop your own profile, locate local games, and track your progress.

SpecOps also has a cool podcast with some interesting content.  One things especially enjoyed was their short films called BlackCell.  I have included episode 1 below:

I have already bought my own marker.  I ended up choosing the Tippmann X-7.  It’s currently one of the most customizable paintball markers in the market.  My current configuration of the gun includes as Flatline Barrel, X-36 Carrying Handel, and Collapsible CAR Stock.  See pic below:

You can check out all of the other configurations via the online X-7 Builder.

So far, our crew has played once a week over the past 4-5 weeks.  We hope to keep this up throughout the summer and fall as it has only been a complete blast since we started!

  1. I didn’t even know that people played paintball indoors. I’ve only ever played it in the forest or a canyon.

Wow. Woodsball sounds like a lot of fun! Do you play it every week? Do you ever let Howie play too?
