The above pic is the current line Cindy and I have been sitting in for the last hour at the Canadian/US border (rt. 91). We have been informed that it may take another hour to get in the country. There does not seem to be much traffic. Instead, US border patrol seems intent on cavity searches for all of us intent on getting home tonight.
Al Ferguson (US Border Patrol RET),
First, if you are going to post to my blog, you can start by not being such a DICK! I think I have a right to complain that it ultimately took 4 HOURS to get through customs!!! Especially when it should only take 3 hours to drive from Montreal to my condo in Campton, NH. TOTAL!!!!
Second, get you quotes right:
It’s not
“A man not willing to give up some liberty for security derves neither one.”
note: You spelled deserves wrong.
its
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” -Benjamin Franklin
Ben’s quote goes completely against the point you are trying to make…and I think he may know a thing or two about freedom and liberty.
Finally, own up! The US-Canadian Border Patrol does not have the greatest track record. From 9/11 to our more recent globe-trotting tuberculosis patient, the officers that work the Canadian border seem more inclined to let those who should not be entering the country in then those who should be.
