DJ Scoach & Bad Boy Bill

Dsc02267_2 This past Friday my friend DJ Scoach opened for Bad Boy Bill at Avalon in Boston.  Both sets were amazing.  Later that evening, I hosted an after hours at my loft in the North End.  All pics for this evening may be viewed in the following new photo album I created for such occasions:  Stillman St. SoirĂ©es

Cellar Bar

Cellarbar_1 Cellar Bar departs from the Koi and the Bryant Park Hotel’s  sexy red/velvet atmosphere and instead provides its patrons with "with white-tiled, vaulted ceilings and tapioca love-seats".  Located downstairs from Bryant’s main lobby, this is where Melissa and I found ourselves after dinning at Koi (I swear did actually end up leaving the hotel this weekend…..did some shopping around Soho, etc).  The vibe here was dark and seductive; the people-beautiful; and the drinks……well, they were plentiful ;)

Rendezvous with Salsa

Friday night  I went to dinner at Rendezvous in Central Square with my friend Lisa.  All-in-all, a good restaurant.  Although a little too crowded to take advantage of what atmosphere the venue had too offer, it still had wonderful food and service.

After dinner, we met up with Blake, Edson, Jill, and a couple of other peeps in the South End for Salsa night at Villa Victoria.  There was a live 18-20 piece Latin band and a pretty large crowd on the dance floor.  What a blast!  It was great to be out dancing again!  In fact, I am starting my private Latin Dance instruction this week.  I really look froward to getting back on track with this hobby.

Chicago Weekend

Dsc02050 I have some free time before my flight leaves this evening to take me back to Boston, so I decided to post about my weekend jaunt to the Windy City.  My friend Rob and I arrived this past Friday evening around 6:30pm.  We decided to keep the lodging expense within reason for this trip so we both got rooms at the Embassy Suites downtown.

After we checked in and got cleaned up, we met up with my other bud Ron and his wife Cynthia at the Fulton Lounge.  We planned to rendezvous with Meredith, Lauren, Jess, Cristy, Bill,  Matt, Eric and his  girl here as well.  Fulton Lounge is located in Chicago’s meat packing district.  Hidden away between industrial zoned warehouses and distribution plants, this bar had a hip minimalistic theme going for it.

Around 11pm, we headed to Cabaret-a sexy & luxe bar/club off of Hubbard St. downtown Chicago.  With some help from Cynthia, we were able to get in via the guest list entrance.  We stayed here  drinking and dancing for about an hour.  Then it was off to Crobar, which was celebrating its 13th anniversary.   I think I speak for the entire crew that the night took a turn to the surreal the minute we walked through the doors.  The DJ was spinning old school Ministry, Front 242, and Depeche Mode tracks alongside with new House and Techno beats.  The light show, confetti, and dry ice machines added to the energy of the venue.  When we finally decided to leave at 5am the place was still rocking.

Needless to say, everyone was junk on Saturday.  I think I suffered the worst (this aging thing sucks).  We all met up again around 9pm to have Sushi at a restaurant in Lincoln Park then it was off to a very cool bar called Landmark.  After two drinks, we all piled into Bills truck and headed back into the city to Bill and Lauren’s apt.  I decided to crash on their couch while everyone else went to a couple bars in the neighborhood.

So thats that!  I need to go check out of my room now.  Rob and I are going to attempt to rally everyone before we leave to hit Sunday brunch.

I posted the pics I took over the weekend  here.  Enjoy.

Sanctuary

Sanctuary My friend Jeff and I hit Sanctuary last night.  This was my first time at this venue (I know I know—pretty late to this game as its been around now for a couple of years).  The atmosphere, music (House/Neo Lounge), and three  stylish levels were all to my liking.  I was particularly intrigued by the casual lounge setting on their second floor.  I look forward to going back and spending more time there.

My only criticism:  I did think that the crowd leaned toward the younger end of the spectrum.  That’s an easy one to overlook! ;)
