Howie just returned home from the hospital and is currently passed out in front of the window in the family rooms (hopped up on pain meds). During his physical exam by the Neurologist, Howie was bright and alert. He was however, guarding his neck and expressed pain upon manipulation of his neck and front legs.
They concluded that the pain is most likely from a lesion in his front neck. We are pretty certain that this was caused this past Thursday night when he accidentally fell into a window well outside of our house while he was let out to go to the bathroom.
They think his neck pain may be due to many problems, including a pinched nerve, a ruptured disc, or a spinal luxation. He is scheduled to return to Tuft’s tomorrow night in preparation for a MRI, CT, and X-Rays on Monday morning. Pending the outcomes of those test, he could go into surgery Monday afternoon.
He is being very brave and we are so proud of him. We look forward to his speedy recovery and thank everyone for their well wishes and support.
