Campton-Sunday Recovery

P2170075

Sunday……was most def a recovery day.  As explained in the previous post, we spent Saturday skiing, drinking, and dancing.  Graham, jason, and Lori were the only ones to ‘nut up’ and hit the slopes again.  Carmen, Jenny and I decided to spend our Sunday chilling.

The first thing we decided to do late Sunday morning was to hit the Sugar Shack for some yummy breakfast.  This is a little place located in Campton, NH that personifies New England breakfast joint.  Blueberry French Toast, Rasberry Stuffed French Toast, and Egg Scrambels were the order of the day.

After breakfast, we decided to take drive through a section of the White Mountains, via Route 302 East,
which passes through Bretton Woods Resort and the Eisenhower Memorial
Wayside Park.  This is one of my favorite things to do when visiting NH.

Once we got to Bretton Woods, we decided to stop and check out the historic White Mountain Hotel.  After exploring the grounds, our next order of business was to grab a drink and enjoy watching the snow fall from the hotel’s spacious parlor.  Now I need to spend some time detailing the drinks we enjoyed:

Hot Banana Splits

  • Creme de Banana
  • Butter Shots
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Whip Cream

Needless to say, we had a couple.

We returned  back to Campton  at 5:30 pm to meet up with the three  aforementioned  boarders (Graham, Jason, and Lori).  The rest of the evening entailed dinner at the Common Man in Plymouth, NH and then a movie.  By any standard……a perfect New Hampshire day.

I love the Sugar Shack. If you’re ever looking for another quintissential NH dining experience, definitely visit Polly’s Pancake Parlor in Franconia/Sugar Hill. (http://www.pollyspancakeparlor.com/) It’s an old family favorite. Beware, though, they’re only open May-Oct.
