A More Perfect Union

Recently I learned of a project by R. Luke DuBois titled “A More Perfect Union”. Driven by the US Census that was conducted in 2010, Dubois decided to conduct his own by setting up accounts on 21 different dating sites and downloading the profiles of 19 million single Americans. He then sorted the profiles by Zip Code and conducted word analysis on the database. Finally, he hand drew maps and replaced the city names with the single word that most represented that geo-location from his database. The results are fascinating (and Human-Centric). The words say a lot about how we describe an area and ourselves. Check out the above video!
